Dear readers,

We are happy to welcome new members to our organisation! The strength of the OMS-Group is the exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge among experts from different fields. For more information on the new members of the group, see the first item of this newsletter and read the details on the OMS website. Apart from this good news, there is a lot more we would like to report about in the first issue of the OMS newsletter. We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter and look forward to your comments and suggestions.

Best regards,
Charles van Dyck

The OMS test tool for meter manufacturers

The development of test tools for conformance testing in accordance with OMS Generation V4 is expected to be completed in the middle of this year. In this test tool version, additions related to the guidelines of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) will be included as a new physical layer, for example security profiles, AFL and ELL and C-Mode. It will also take account of the significant improvements of the OMS Generation 4. The test tool allows R&D departments to pre-test their devices and thereby increases the success rate of certifications. The test tool can be ordered directly from the OMS-Group.

We’re six months away from the OMS Forum

Take part in the OMS Forum on November 24th in Bonn, Germany – as a speaker, as exhibitor, or as sponsor! The event will take place one day after the OMS general meeting at the venue of the DVGW German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water.

This date was chosen for many reasons. Towards the end of the year, Germany will have adopted the legal ordinance on smart metering systems. The test tool for version 4 of the OMS specification will be available and the OMS certification system will be established, including the lists of certified devices.

Don't miss the opportunity to represent your company and your OMS-compliant devices at this key gathering place for the smart metering industry! Please register as a speaker, exhibitor or sponsor at www.oms-forum.org.
Contribute to the OMS-Group journal!

Please send us your suggestions and contributions for the next edition of metering4all by June 30, 2016. The OMS-Group journal will be published on September 15, 2016. It will also be distributed at three industry events: at the 3rd Metering Days, September 20 – 21 in Fulda, Germany, at the trade show for the gas and water industry gat/wat – Fachmesse für Gas und Wasser, November 8 – 10 in Essen, Germany, and at the European Utility Week, November 15 – 17 in Barcelona, Spain. We will send out a comprehensive call for articles and advertising in the next few weeks.
