We are looking forward to our general meeting in Bonn on November 23, 2016. Besides the business side of the event, we will have plenty of time to exchange new ideas, share best practices, discuss challenges, and celebrate our accomplishments. All OMS-Group members will receive an email with further details. For now, here is an (incomplete) overview of some of the activities within the OMS-Group. OMS certified products
Diehl Metering GmbH was the first company to obtain a certificate of conformity to the OMS specification. Three Diehl Metering products are certified: the thermal energy meter SHARKY 775, the radio module IZAR RC I, and the ultrasonic water meter HYDRUS 171.
Now the certification body DVGW Cert awarded a certificate of OMS conformity to two more products:
iPERL, by Sensus GmbH: iPERL is a next-generation, high-performance, solid-state smart water meter with integrated bi-directional communications capability.
Q caloric 5.5, by QUNDIS GmbH: Q caloric 5.5 is an electronic heat cost allocator with cutting-edge technology that enables a large wireless transmission range and flexible readout times.

News from the OMS working groups
WG 1 "Primary Communications" has been working on the revision of OMS-Spec. Volume 2. Based on feedback from users of the Open Metering System, several improvements have been added. The final publication is expected after the OMS general meeting towards the end of this year. The next task of the WG 1 is to address the secure generation and transmission of specific service commands for bidirectional meter devices. This feature has been requested by users in various European countries and should be available soon.
WG 3 "Testing Norm" has successfully completed the OMS Compliance Test (OMS CT) test tool for Generation 3 of the OMS specification. This tool supports quality assurance, enables a smooth certification process, and increases the investment security of OMS users. In parallel, the test specifications for OMS Generation 4 including the German BSI requirements according to security profile B have been defined, and the Extended Link Layer (ELL) as well as the Authentication and Fragmentation Layer (AFL) have been integrated. WG 3 is currently working on the certification of bi-directional meters. The results will be published as new versions of the OMS CT documents.
WG 4 "Wired M-Bus" was founded in 2012 with the aim to identify problem areas and eliminate them by enhancing the standard. 100 topics were identified, discussed and decided on. The result of this process is the "OMS Technical Report TR-02", which was published on October 26, 2015. The next milestone for the working group will be the integration of TR-02 into the OMS Vol. 2 and the transfer of appropriate content to the European Standardization (EN 13757).
