Product zertification
Certificates are an integral part of today’s business world. They provide reliability to all users and manufacturers. In the case of the Open Metering System, the certificate and the corresponding mark certify the compliance of OMS-enabled products and devices. The available certification process is carried out together with DVGW CERT or VDE TIC.

Your enabler of the certification – The OMS Test Tool
The OMS-Group has developed the OMS Test Specification and the Conformance Test Tool for OMS Generation 4 together with the Michael Rac GmbH. With this software tool, which can be purchased at the OMS Office by using the order form, manufacturers of OMS-capable devices can check compliance with the OMS generation 4 on their own. The latest version of the OMS Conformance Test Tool supports now a second, testable frequency of 434 MHz.

Who benefits from the certification?
End user
can be sure that their meter data is in safe hands with OMS-enabled devices and that only authorized persons have access to the highly sensitive consumption data. With the normative citation of OMS in TR-03109 of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), OMS has become a quasi-standard. OMS can also save consumers money. The use of OMS-enabled devices allows the property management company to precisely break down individual consumers and thus accurately bill ancillary costs.
Metering point operators, housing industry and public tendering institutions/authorities
With OMS-certified devices, in addition to the aforementioned data security, you have the guarantee that meters, gateways and communication devices can be used with each other regardless of the manufacturer. OMS is designed for cross-manufacturer and cross-sector use. Electricity, gas, water and heat meters can be read via a single interface for both remote reading and, for example, heating cost allocation, so there is no need to keep individual readout systems for the individual sectors.
Manufacturer
fulfill an important requirement with the proven certification in order to be allowed to participate in future tenders for smart meters. OMS will continue to gain in importance with the increasing spread of such smart meters. The widespread introduction of smart meters in Germany will therefore open up great market potential for suppliers who enter the market with OMS-capable devices.
