Dear readers,

We are happy to welcome new members to our organisation! The strength of the OMS-Group is the exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge among experts from different fields. For more information on the new members of the group, see the first item of this newsletter and read the details on the OMS website. Apart from this good news, there is a lot more we would like to report about in the first issue of the OMS newsletter. We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter and look forward to your comments and suggestions.

Best regards,

We welcome our new members

In the course of the last year, five new international experts joined OMS-Group: KEMA – DNV GL (NL), Eandis cvba (BE), Endetec Homerider Systems (FR), Energy.dis GmbH (IT), and Maddalena S.p.A (IT). We are excited to work together with these companies.
New members of the OMS working group Marketing

Three new members joined the working group Marketing of the OMS-Group: Hartmut Michels, Qundis; Lars Leblang, Techem; and Bruno Kloubert, MarDirect, as guest member. The next meeting of the working group Marketing will take place on June 7, 2016, in Nuremberg, Germany.
The OMS test tool for meter manufacturers

The development of test tools for conformance testing in accordance with OMS Generation V4 is expected to be completed in the middle of this year. In this test tool version, additions related to the guidelines of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) will be included as a new physical layer, for example security profiles, AFL and ELL and C-Mode. It will also take account of the significant improvements of the OMS Generation 4. The test tool allows R&D departments to pre-test their devices and thereby increases the success rate of certifications. The test tool can be ordered directly from the OMS-Group.
We’re six months away from the OMS Forum

Take part in the OMS Forum on November 24th in Bonn, Germany – as a speaker, as exhibitor, or as sponsor! The event will take place one day after the OMS general meeting at the venue of the DVGW German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water.

This date was chosen for many reasons. Towards the end of the year, Germany will have adopted the legal ordinance on smart metering systems. The test tool for version 4 of the OMS specification will be available and the OMS certification system will be established, including the lists of certified devices.

Don't miss the opportunity to represent your company and your OMS-compliant devices at this key gathering place for the smart metering industry! Please register as a speaker, exhibitor or sponsor at www.oms-forum.org.
Contribute to the OMS-Group journal!

Please send us your suggestions and contributions for the next edition of metering4all by June 30, 2016. The OMS-Group journal will be published on September 15, 2016. It will also be distributed at three industry events: at the 3rd Metering Days, September 20 – 21 in Fulda, Germany, at the trade show for the gas and water industry gat/wat – Fachmesse für Gas und Wasser, November 8 – 10 in Essen, Germany, and at the European Utility Week, November 15 – 17 in Barcelona, Spain. We will send out a comprehensive call for articles and advertising in the next few weeks.
Presentation at the Light + Building

The European BACnet community invited Werner Domschke to give a speech about the OMS-Group and the group’s Open Metering System at the Light + Building 2016, the world’s leading trade show for lighting and building services technology, which took place in Frankfurt, Germany, in March.

E-world energy & water 2016

Members of the OMS-Group presented their solutions and services at the OMS-Group booth at E-world energy & water 2016 in Essen, Germany, in February. E-world energy & water, a premier platform for the European energy sector, attracted 650 exhibitors from 22 nations and more than 24.000 trade visitors from 71 nations. The OMS-Group booth was in the "Smart Energy" hall that got a lot of attention this year. Besides the OMS-Group, EBV Elektronik, Metz Connect, Qundis, Weptech elektronik, and Zenner International were exhibiting at the joint booth.
Assessment on smart metering

The high potential of smart metering for electricity, gas and heat to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions was confirmed in an assessment by the ITG Dresden Institute for Building Systems Engineering Research and Application (ITG) in Dresden, Germany. The assessment was carried out by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bert Oschatz.
