The board of OMS-Group e.V. comprises leading professionals from various industries who come together to steer strategic directions and policy decisions. They are committed to promoting interoperability and open standards in energy metering to ensure the efficiency, reliability, and accessibility of modern metering systems.

Working Groups

The working groups aim to drive innovation in the development of the OMS Specification, define the basic requirements for devices, and promote harmonization. By doing so, they contribute to the increased competitiveness of the OMS-Group e.V. members and the users of the OMS standard.

Primary Communication

AG 1

Defines the interface for primary communication (meter-to-gateway communication) based on the M-Bus standard EN 13757, with a focus on wireless M-Bus. This includes refining, narrowing, and extending the standardized features.

Testing Standards

AG 3

Develops a test specification to achieve interoperability certification based on the OMS Specification, along with appropriate methods and tools for conformity testing.

Wired M-Bus

AG 4

Develops the OMS application profile for wired M-Bus, focusing on refining, narrowing, and extending the standardized features of the wired M-Bus.

Implements measures to market the OMS Specification and the OMS-Group e.V.

Data Transmission from OMS to Other Systems

AG 5

Spezifikation der Datenübertragung von der Schnittstelle OMS zur Schnittstelle EN50491-11. Sowie die Erstellung einer Testspezifikation zur Zertifizierung dieser Datenübertragung für ein Gateway.

The Standard for Remote Reading of Smart Meters

The Open Metering System is based on M-Bus. It is the only system definition across Europe which integrates all media (electricity, gas, heat and water incl. submetering) into one system. The OMS-Group e. V. is a nonprofit organization and interest group of meter manufacturers, utilities, meter operators, electronics manufacturers, communication firms, and IT companies.
