Logos and licenses

The OMS trademarks – including the OMS Group logo and OMS CERTIFIED logo – are registered and protected trademarks of the OMS Group e. V. 

Usage of the logos are subject to membership and licensing

Use of OMS Group logo

OMS-Group members may: 

Display the OMS – OPEN METERING SYSTEM GROUP – logo to show membership including usage on websites, advertising materials, presentations, or trade-fairs to indicate affiliation/membership.

Use must not imply licensing, certification or compliance to specifications.

Any use on products/variants and their packaging is not permitted.

Use of OMS CERTIFIED logo

OMS-Group members with active Logo License Subscription are entitled to:

Use the “OMS CERTIFIED” mark on certified products and on packaging and advertising materials thereof.

Promote the certified product as officially OMS compliant.

Use on non-certified products or variants is not permitted.

    Become an OMS Group e.V. member – Now you can use the OMS – OPEN METERING GROUP logo as described above.

    Certify your products – Now your product is shown in the certified products section.

    Apply for a Logo License Subscription (see below) – Now your are allowed to use the OMS – CERTIFIED logo on your certified products.

    General Principles

    We encourage all members and partners to use OMS trademarks transparently to support the integrity of the OMS ecosystem.

    Unauthorized use of OMS Group e.V. trademarks is prohibited.

    Misuse of OMS Group e.V trademarks may result in legal action under trademark and competition law.

    Use the OMS – CERTIFIED logo on your certified products

    1. Sign licensing agreement 
    2. Complete certification (e.g., via DVGW CERT or VDE) and receive certificate 
    3. Apply “OMS CERTIFIED” mark in compliance with the guidelines

    Claiming compliance to OMS Group e.V. Specification without certification. 

    Claiming compliance with any OMS Group e.V specification prior to granted certification such as “OMS compatible,” “according to OMS,” or “OMS capable” may also constitute trademark infringements and violations of competition law. 

    For OMS Group e.V. members it is allowed to claim compliance with OMS specifications before and after certification has been granted. Any such claims may only be constituted in product advertisement materials. 

    Examples of allowed compliance claims are: 

    “This product implements OMS LPWAN Burst Mode according to the OMS Specification Volume 2 Issue 4.5.1 Annex Q” 

    “Compatible with OMS over LoRaWAN according to the OMS Specification Volume 2 Issue 4.5.1 Annex Q” 

    “Compatible with OMS LPWAN Burst Mode” 

    “This product implements OMS over LoRaWAN” 

    “Radio interface specification: OMS Specification Volume 2 Issue 4.5.1 Annex Q” 

    “This product is implemented according to the OMS Specification Volume 2 Issue 4.5.1 Annex Q” 

    “Radio interface: OMS LPWAN Burst Mode compatible” 

    “Radio interface: OMS over LoRaWAN compatible” 

    “OMS over LoRaWAN compatible” 

    “OMS LPWAN Burst Mode compatible” 

    The Standard for Remote Reading of Smart Meters

    The Open Metering System is based on M-Bus. It is the only system definition across Europe which integrates all media (electricity, gas, heat and water incl. submetering) into one system. The OMS-Group e. V. is a nonprofit organization and interest group of meter manufacturers, utilities, meter operators, electronics manufacturers, communication firms, and IT companies.
