Save the date: OMS Forum "Future Market Smart Metering" in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, on June 21st, 2016

|   Press Release

Cologne, 03.16.2016 – The theme for the first European OMS Forum is “Future Market Smart Metering with Standardized Communication – Functionality, Economic Efficiency, Security”. The conference and exhibition will take place on June 21st in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Hungary is the guest country of the OMS Forum.

In the past nine years, the industry initiative OMS-Group has developed an open, non-proprietary, and patent-free smart meter system that integrates a wide range of utility services in one device – electricity, gas, thermal energy, water – as well as submetering in these segments. Additionally, the Open Metering System (OMS) is compatible with building automation systems. The OMS specification was integrated into the European standardization of smart meter systems. Since the beginning of this year, the OMS label is awarded to devices that comply with the OMS specification. The OMS-Group was founded in 2007 by figawa, the German Federal Association of Gas and Water Companies, and the KNX Association in Brussels, to develop an interoperable and secure smart meter communication protocol for all energy types. Currently, 54 companies and organizations from eleven European countries and China work together in the OMS-Group.

The OMS Forum will bring together experts from the energy, water, and housing sectors, energy service providers, and developers of smart meter devices. The conference languages are German and English. Experts who would like to participate as a speaker should complete the form “Call for Papers” at www.oms-forum.org and send it to the OMS-Group at office@oms - group.eu by April 18th, 2016. The list of speakers will be decided on by the Program Committee:

Dr.-Ing. Werner Domschke, Spokesman of the OMS-Group executive board
Charles van Dyck, Flonidan A/S
Bruno Kloubert, Journalist, COO at MarDirect
